Perućica Primeval Forest
Europe's last old-growth forest and the 81 m Skakavac Waterfall — a hike through ancient woodland unlike anything else on the continent.
The Tara River carves one of the world's great canyons — up to 1,300 metres deep in places, running wild through a UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve on the border of Bosnia and Montenegro. This full-day rafting descent covers 25 kilometres of its most spectacular stretch.
In spring, high snowmelt swells the river and the current is fast — rapids come quick and the adrenaline runs high. By summer the Tara calms, the water warms, and the canyon becomes perfect for families and first-timers. Either way, your certified river skippers handle everything on the water.
The day starts with a hot homemade breakfast, then a briefing and kit-up before transfer to the put-in point at Brštanovica. Along the 25 km you'll stop at waterfalls, natural springs and swimming holes. At the end, hot showers and a full lunch of regional Bosnian specialties wait for you back at the centre.
The longest single-day rafting run in Bosnia, through Europe's deepest canyon — up to 1,300 metres of sheer canyon walls on both sides.
Spring brings fast water and high adrenaline. Summer calms for families and first-timers. No experience needed — your skipper runs the show.

Start with a hot homemade breakfast before launch and finish with a full regional Bosnian lunch at the centre — proper fuel for the whole day.
Arrive hungry — breakfast is waiting. From there it's briefing, kit-up, a transfer to the river and 25 kilometres of canyon to yourselves.
The day starts at the centre with a hot breakfast and a full safety briefing, then moves to the river for a 25 km canyon descent with your certified skipper. Stops for waterfalls, swimming and photography are built into the run. You finish at the centre with hot showers and a regional Bosnian lunch.
The canyon is extraordinary. We went in June and the conditions were perfect — fast enough to be exciting, calm enough to stop and swim. Best day of our entire Balkans trip without question.
We brought the kids (ages 8 and 11) and they absolutely loved it. The guides were professional and made everyone feel safe from the first minute. The lunch at the end was genuinely delicious.
Went in May and the spring water levels made it an actual thrill — soaked by the first rapid, screaming by the end. The canyon walls are something you can't photograph properly. You just have to be there.
We'd read about Tara Canyon for years and it completely lived up to the hype. The swimming stops mid-river were a highlight — crystal clear water, canyon walls above you, total silence except the river. Magic.
