Your adventure snapshot

Two lakes, two days, one national park

Sutjeska National Park is one of the last untouched corners of Europe — ancient forest, soaring peaks and mountain lakes that look like paintings. This 3-day arrangement gives you the full experience: from the highland meadows of Zelengora to the crystalline waters of Trnovačko, the most beautifully shaped lake in the Balkans.

Day one eases you in — a welcome dinner, a dip in the pool and the clean mountain air of Tjentište. Day two takes you by 4×4 terrain vehicle to Gornje and Donje Bare lakes on Zelengora mountain, with a panoramic stop at Borić Viewpoint and a visit to the Sutjeska WWII memorial. Day three is Trnovačko: a leisurely 1.5-hour hike to a heart-shaped alpine lake at 1,517 m, with Maglić (2,386 m — Bosnia's highest peak) watching over from the ridgeline.

All meals, accommodation at Green Villas Tjentište, guides and transport are included throughout. No experience required — just a willingness to walk, breathe and look.

Trnovačko Lake was the most beautiful place I've ever seen. We hiked up in the morning mist and when the cloud lifted it just appeared — this perfectly shaped lake with Maglić behind it. The whole 3 days were wonderful but that moment alone was worth the trip.

We came with two families including kids aged 8 and 11. Everyone managed both hikes easily and the kids were obsessed with the terrain vehicle rides. The guides were fantastic with them — patient, enthusiastic, and full of stories about the park.

A really well-put-together arrangement. Day 1 feels almost too relaxed, but by Day 3 you're grateful for it — the hike to Trnovačko is genuinely stunning and you need the energy. Green Villas is cosy and the food is superb.

The WWII memorial on Day 2 caught us off guard — I knew nothing about it beforehand and it was incredibly moving. Our guide explained the whole battle. Honestly this is why you travel with a local team rather than doing it yourself.
