OutdoorBosnia is a small, local adventure company based inside Sutjeska National Park — Bosnia's oldest and wildest protected area. Every guide on our team grew up in this landscape. Every route we run, we know by heart.
We started in 2014 with one simple idea: the mountains around Sutjeska deserved more visitors, and those visitors deserved a guide who actually knew the land. What began as weekend hikes for friends turned into a full programme of expeditions, rafting trips, and multi-day adventures.
We keep groups small — never more than 12 — because that's the only way to move responsibly through a protected national park and still give every person a real experience. We're not a coach-and-commentary operation. We stop when something is worth stopping for.
Bosnia is still largely undiscovered. That's both the appeal and the responsibility. We take that seriously — our routes are designed to leave nothing behind except footprints, and we work directly with the national park authority on every permit and trail plan.
We cap every tour at 8–25 people depending on the activity. Large tour groups damage trails, disturb wildlife and reduce the experience to a queue. We've never run it that way and we never will.
Every guide grew up in the FoÄa and Sutjeska region. They know which trails are impassable after rain, where the eagle nests, and which farmhouse serves the best bosanski lonac. That knowledge isn't in any guidebook.
We operate entirely within the national park's permit system, carry out all waste, and adapt routes seasonally to avoid nesting and calving periods. Sustainable isn't a marketing word for us — it's a practical constraint we built the business around.
All guides hold current wilderness first-aid certification. Equipment is inspected and replaced on a fixed schedule — not when it looks worn out. On technical routes we use double-checked anchors and professionally maintained rope systems.
We don't filter feedback. If a tour has a 3.4 average, it stays at 3.4. We'd rather you arrive with accurate expectations than a polished illusion. Our 4.9★ overall rating is earned by the tours that deserve it.
